Even in the Rain, He Is Faithful

Rainy mornings can be solemn, dreary, and sometimes downright sad. As a gardener I understand the value of rain. Despite a winter with the beds covered in snow, the ground beneath the top soil is still very dry. We need the rain, the promise of future growth. So, I practice gratitude.
I was reminded this morning during my devotional that gratitude isn’t just an attitude, it is a discipline that must be practiced. What does this ‘grateful discipline’ look like? Grateful for the seasons of drought, rain, disease, and even death. During the seasons of pain, God still shows up. We must discipline our hearts and minds to remember that during these seasons, the ultimate plan is his. He knows how the story ends, and he is faithful. The many times our prayers were answered, as we had asked. A discipline of gratitude requires us to reflect daily on all that God has done, is doing, and his promise for tomorrow - even when it is painful.
This morning, I pray for those hurting emotionally and physically. I pray that during their season of sadness that they can be reminded of God’s promise, and be filled with gratitude.
Be blessed and grateful today, my friends. From the frozen and dry ground erupts God’s beauty.
‘Bless the Lord, oh my soul, And forget not all his benefits.’ Psalms 103:2 (KJV)
