Arthritis is not friendly and he certainly impedes progress. But who can worry about swollen hands and aching shoulders when you spent the morning peeling and slicing 2 bushel of apples. The special part…we came from a strong line of hard workers. Today we peeled and sliced using his momma’s pan (with the deteriorating Tupperware label) and my momma’s Old Hickory paring knife. Memories relived, peaceful moments without conversation. Just unspoken love of time together, minding our own business, and the satisfaction of preserving God’s bounty.
Lunch was fried apples on homemade sourdough toast. Thankful for this rainy day and food for my pantry and family.
1 Thessalonians 4:11-12 NIV
11 and to make it your ambition to lead a quiet life: You should mind your own business and work with your hands, just as we told you, 12 so that your daily life may win the respect of outsiders and so that you will not be dependent on anybody.
