The promise

Sunday morning reflections from the garden White Picket Farm LLC.
Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week. Jesus did not ride into Jerusalem on a stately horse, he had the disciples to bring him a donkey. In that time a horse represented war and a donkey symbolized peace and humility. The crowd waved palm branches, a symbol of celebration. We have so many references to symbolism from the garden.
Holy Week preparing our hearts for the pain, with the promise of eternity.
He was celebrated as the King, greeted with a parade,,, but the jealousy of his success was soon to turn the table. (And, Jesus turned a few too.) Jesus knew what was coming and embraced, invited, and loved those who he knew would turn on him.
As we tend the garden in life we are often cut by the very branches we prune to save, we bleed from the thorns of the roses we nourish to bloom, and we are sometimes pierced by splinters. Jesus was cut, bled, and crowned with thorns. He did the dirty work so we could flourish in the garden of eternity - through him.
I am as guilty as the next, thoughts of doubt, creeping jealousy, open wounds inflicted from those I love deeply…This week I pray that my bouquet of thoughts, words, and actions be rooted in Christ and radiate his love and light. I am sure I will fall short and my bouquet may only be a single stem, but thankfully my Gardener will use that stem to radiate hope.

This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)
